Marcos Senesi’s Bournemouth contract runs out in the summer and potential suitors are growing desperate for his signature.
The defender has been key for the Cherries this season, having replaced Illia Zabarnyi quite well.
The Argentine was relegated to being a back-up option last season but is proving his worth in the ongoing campaign.
Sport Witness covered claims from Spain this week about the defender awaiting an approach from Barcelona. He has attracted from Premier League clubs like Tottenham and Aston Villa but the player’s stance appears to have rushed Juventus too.
Offer on the table for Bournemouth player
Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport covers Juve’s knowledge that the centre-back has a big line of suitors chasing him. They do not want to be forced to pay a higher wage and have acted earlier than other clubs.
A written offer has been submitted to the player and his entourage by Juve CEO Damien Comolli. This is the Old Lady’s attempt to race ahead of competition and send a message to the Argentine about their intentions.
The effort comes after the Italian giants made initial enquiries for Senesi, who appeared keen on a move.
The finer details of the Turin club’s offer are unknown, with the 28-year-old yet to issue a formal response. Juventus expect an answer in the next few weeks, as manager Luciano Spalletti remains very keen on signing Senesi as a defensive partner for Bremer.
Our take on Senesi’s Bournemouth future
It seems certain that Senesi is departing Bournemouth and it all depends on which club makes the best offer.
As of now, Juve are yet to seal qualification to the Champions League, as they battle with Roma and Como for a spot. Barcelona, in the meantime, have all but secured qualification and are in a better position to win silverware.
Juve have been suffering from a period of instability, with Luciano Spalletti yet to sign a long-term contract himself.
Considering that, it is easy to see why the Bournemouth player might have doubts about joining the Italian side. Barcelona, who are yet to replace Inigo Martinez, may be seen as a better option. However, he’d likely struggle to be first choice for the Catalan club.
Subsequently, Juventus and others have a chance.
