ESPN Brasil this week features an interview with Nottingham Forest players Renan Lodi and Danilo.
The duo had a word about their adaptation to the Premier League and the difficult moments they’ve been through since arriving at the City Ground.
It’s Danilo who claims to have struggled the most, with him being signed by Nottingham Forest in the middle of the season.
“I don’t speak English, so that part was already difficult. But with the help of Renan, Scarpa and Felipe, I managed to adapt,” Danilo told ESPN Brasil.
“At first it was bad, because at Palmeiras I always played. Here I debuted, in the other game I started, in the other I came in, then I wasn’t brought in anymore. Then you start ‘hey, I’m not playing’. Having a doubt.
“But everything is a process, everything happens in God’s time, and the time. As I tell my friends, God’s time has come to bless me and I was able to embrace the opportunity from Wolverhampton until today, doing my best. I thank the Brazilians and teammates for their support. And I only have to grow even more.”
Nottingham Forest spent €20m to sign Danilo from Palmeiras in January. So far he’s made 14 appearances for the club, and even managed to get three goals and two assists.
The midfielder indeed missed four straight Premier League games in his first months at the City Ground, and that’s what made him upset at that stage. The Wolves game he mentions took place on the 1st of April, and since then, he was started in all nine games Nottingham Forest had in the Premier League.
In the same interview, Renan Lodi claimed the most difficult player he had to mark in England was Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez. Danilo, meanwhile, picked two teams, saying it was hard to defend against Manchester United and Manchester City.
