Just when it seemed like Nottingham Forest had Orel Mangala’s departure from the club completely sorted out, it now sounds like that deal may not be confirmed yet.
Earlier today, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri claimed that Lyon had an agreement with the Tricky Trees for the transfer, willing to pay €27m plus €3m in bonuses for the midfielder.
As the reporter now comes back to Twitter with an update on the talks, he says Nottingham Forest and the French club are still ‘waiting for a green light’.
It’s said that despite the ‘progress’ made in recent negotiations, the transfer is still complicated because of Ligue 1’s ‘financial policeman’.
All transactions made by Ligue 1 clubs are subject to scrutiny from DNCG (Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion), and until they validate the ‘financial aspect’ of Lyon’s upcoming signings, the deal can’t be confirmed by any of the parties.
Mangala has been through a small saga to leave Nottingham Forest this month, and he’ll certainly be having a hard time understanding that now that there’s a deal for his exit, there’s a final obstacle blocking it.
