According to a claim in the Turkish media, Fenerbahce have stepped up in their surprise pursuit for Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans.

The Belgium international has been linked with a move to the Super Lig side in recent days as Jose Mourinho looks to bring in an experienced central midfielder.

Sabah today report on Fenerbahce’s interest in the Aston Villa player and claim the Istanbul side are in ‘fierce negotiations’ to sign him.

However, the Yellow Canaries aren’t prepared to meet Aston Villa’s valuation of Tielemans, which they’ve reportedly set at €35m.

The Turkish media outlet report Fenerbahce only want to pay €25m for the former Leicester City man and are also expected to face competition from Premier League clubs.

Fener are also reportedly monitoring the situation with Tottenham Hotspur’s Yves Bissouma and the Mali international a looks more realistic target for the Istanbul side. Bissouma could be offloaded by Spurs before the window closes and was left out of the squad for Wednesday’s clash against PSG.

He made 53 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring five goals. Tielemans is contracted to the Premier League side until June 2027.
