AS Roma are in a dilemma over the future of Kostas Manolas at the club due to FFP. The Serie A side want to renew the contract of the Greek international, but are keen to get this done with Everton and Southampton keen on the central defender.

Calciomercato have reported Manolas’ has requested a salary of €3.5m a season, which could become an issue for Roma. These demands could challenge the Serie A club in terms of FFP, and the issues have brought him to the attention of Southampton and Everton.

Roma can also save themselves €3m if they sell the player before 1st September because this would be owed to his former Olympiakos as part of an add on payment.

Southampton are weighing up a move for the Manolas with uncertainty over the future of Virgil van Dijk and Jose Fonte at the club. The Dutchman has been in impressive form for Southampton this season which has brought him to the attention of the Premier League big boys, whilst Fonte has asked to leave.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is also said to be keen on Manolas, and the Greek would be an ideal replacement for the ageing Phil Jagielka.
