Wolves are ‘considering all possible scenarios’ for midfielder Fer López, who remains a target for Celta Vigo this summer.
Galicia Press report that the Spanish side have been left watching on this week as Wolves have been ‘boasting’ about getting López back for pre-season.
Celta Vigo want him back
The midfielder was on loan at Celta Vigo from January to June but is starting pre-season with the Championship side now that the loan deal has come to an end.
That’s prompted Wolves to share him taking part in a training camp in the Algarve, where they are beginning their pre-season. And it’s not gone unnoticed by Vigo.
They consider the 22-year-old to be key signing this summer. They only sold him to Wolves last year but struggled to replace him, eventually doing so by bringing him back on loan until the end of the season. He proved to be a crucial player for the Spanish side in that period.
Wolves assessing their options
Now they would like to sign him on loan again. A permanent transfer just isn’t possible due to the club’s finances.
But Wolves are yet to sanction that yet. Instead, the idea would be to keep López and use him in their attempt to get back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Even if that isn’t a firm plan, they are ‘considering all possible scenarios’ first. The hope is that other clubs may come in and offer a ‘lucrative’ fee. That would allow them to bring in profit or at least get their money back.
For now, negotiations with Celta Vigo ‘appear to have ground to a complete halt’. Instead, they are being forced to watch the midfielder prepare for pre-season with Wolves.
Seeing him in the colours of any other team ‘still feels very strange’ for them. But nobody is taking a definitive step to make his third spell at the Spanish club a reality.
