Banned from playing football for the next 10 months, Sandro Tonali is unable to feature for Newcastle United despite only signing for them in the summer.
He is spending his time learning English and discovering the beautiful British landscape, all the while training and having some meetings to treat his gambling addiction, as explained by Gazzetta dello Sport a few days ago.
The Newcastle midfielder wasn’t the only player banned, as Juventus’ Nicolo Fagioli was also suspended, which Gianluca Raspadori was questioned about by the aforementioned Gazzetta on Friday in an interview with the newspaper.
Asked whether he had managed to get in touch with Tonali or the Serie A midfielder, the Napoli star revealed time had not permitted that.
He said: “No, I haven’t had the chance, but they are two guys with human quality, not just football quality, and they will come out of it soon and well. What I was saying before applies: the speed of success can lead to various reactions, including the feeling of having no limits, and make even the best lose their way.”
It’s worth remembering that Tonali is only still 23 years of age, and broke through into professional football in 2018 at Brescia.
This led to a paid loan to Milan two years later, followed by a permanent transfer and a €64m move to Newcastle last summer.
He had made 12 appearances for the Magpies in all competitions and scored one goal before his suspension was put in place.
