FC Nantes are expected to finalise a move for Sheffield United forward Bénie Traoré this week, with him expected at the French side tomorrow.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who back up a report from earlier today stating that the 21-year-old was heading to France for the rest of the season.

That report today stated that a deal was expected to be finalised quickly for Traoré, with Nantes moving to secure his signature and bolster their forward line.

L’Equipe double down on that, explaining that the French side ‘should register’ the arrival of the Sheffield United striker in the form of a loan with an option to buy included.

They explain that Nantes are eager to strengthen their offensive options this month and already have their first reinforcement in place in the form of Traoré.

The Canaries are ‘in the process of finalising’ the arrival of the Ivorian striker, with the 21-year-old expected at Jonelière on Wednesday to undergo a medical.

Should all go to plan he will sign a loan until the end of the season that will include an option for Nantes to make it permanent for €4.5m. That’s just under the €4.6m Sheffield United paid to sign him from Häcken in July.

It seems the Blades have decided he’s not for them long-term and are now willing to let him go this month, albeit initially on loan.
