Federico Ravaglia has been close to joining Watford over the past few days but a move is yet to be confirmed. Some details about the situation have now emerged from Italy.
The keeper was second-choice for Bologna last season. He played 17 times in Serie A, also playing five times in the Europa League in the absence of Lukas Skorupski.
With Massimo Pessina rising through the ranks, concerns were growing about Ravaglia’s game time. This was key to the Watford move, and the London club have been closing in on a loan deal with obligation to buy.
Watford want further tests
Gazzetta dello Sport report Watford’s move for Ravaglia is being held up by the medial. The Championship club want further tests to be carried out.
The Italian newspaper don’t share much more, just adding: ‘Watford apparently wants more medicals to sign Ravaglia permanently.’
There’s no suggestion of what the issue could be. Watford may well be trying to turn the obligation clause in the loan into an option instead.
Whether that would be down to a genuine medical issue or not, remains to be seen.
