Federico Chiesa has been spotted leaving Italy to catch a flight to Liverpool, in order to finalise his move to Anfield.
Gianluca di Marzio cover comments from the forward as he caught his flight to Liverpool from Caselle Airport in Torino.
Reports today made it clear that Liverpool and Juventus were finalising a deal for Chiesa, with growing confidence that it could be done today.
Di Marzio confirms this, report that Chiesa is leaving Juventus, who have agreed a €12m deal plus bonuses for the forward.
He’s now been granted permission to head to Liverpool for a medical. That saw Di Marzio, and his team catch him at Caselle airport, where he had a message for Juventus fans.
“Ready to begin this new adventure, I wanted to say goodbye to the Bianconeri fans,” he is quoted as saying.
“Thank you for your affection and for these years, I will carry you in my heart and thank Juventus. Is it sad to leave Juve like this? I’m sorry but I’m really happy about this new adventure. I’m really happy and my family and I can’t wait.”
Chiesa appears to be on his way, then, so expect plenty of updates on the matter in the coming days as both clubs rush to get the deal done.
With him already travelling for a medical it seems there is confidence that the transfer will be concluded with plenty of time remaining.
Chiesa certainly seems optimistic and enthusiastic about the move, although perhaps some of that is simply relief at sorting out his future after a summer of endless speculation about it.
