Donny van de Beek is ‘languishing’ at Manchester United as a result of Bruno Fernandes dominating performances.

That’s according to former Netherlands international Marciano Vink, who believes the Dutch midfielder must be getting annoyed at the competition with the Portuguese star

As you’ll be aware by now, Van de Beek has had something of a difficult year after joining Manchester United from Ajax last summer.

He played a peripheral role at best under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last season, with the United managed struggling to find a role for the player as the likes of Fernandes and Paul Pogba shone.

It was a similar story for the opening day of the Premier League last weekend, with Van de Beek again on the bench for the win over Leeds.

That game saw both Pogba and Fernandes in great form, with the former racking up four assists and the latter bagging himself a hat-trick in a dominant display.

And Vink believes that can’t have been good for the Dutchman, who must be pulling his hair out as a spectator.

“He is languishing at Manchester United,” Voetbal Zone report him saying.

“He obviously has one of the best, at the moment, number tens in Europe as a competitor. Bruno Fernandes is fantastic.

“If you see what he did last weekend against Leeds United… I think that makes you very small on the bench; want to go home and kick down all the doors there.”
