Ahead of Thursday’s Europa League match between Nottingham Forest and FC Midtjylland, Philip Billing was a little frustrated. The former Huddersfield Town and Bournemouth player didn’t think enough attention was being paid towards the Danish club.
Speaking to the country’s media, Billing said it was question after question about Nottingham Forest and not enough regarding the away team. It all sounded a little odd, especially when Billing went on to say that’s what the English media is like.
Anyway, he got some kind of revenge on Thursday as FC Midtjylland travelled to Nottingham Forest and pulled off a 3-2 shock. The Premier League side are struggling under Ange Postecoglou and there’s a vulnerability around at the moment.
That was a good environment for FC Midtjylland to enter.
On multiple occasions, the home fans chanted ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ at their new manager. Billing, however, doesn’t want that struggle to take away from the Danish club’s credit.
“He’s still a coach who was at Tottenham”
Quoted by Bold.dk, he said: “So people can say that they haven’t really started properly with their coach, but he’s still a coach who was at Tottenham and won the Europa League.
“They are still a top team. We matched them today, although of course we were a little tired at the end, but that’s normal. So it was a fantastic result.
“I have to say I have a great feeling now. I’ve had some close games here, but this was in Europe. People also expected them to win. There was also the fact that we could surprise and hopefully put FC Midtjylland on the world map. I think that after this match people have opened their eyes to FC Midtjylland outside of Denmark.
“The boys and everyone around the club should just be proud of where this club is now.”
It sounds like Billing has a got a little revenge after being annoyed earlier in the week.
