Ever since he was sacked by Bayern Munich and replaced by Thomas Tuchel, Julian Nagelsmann has been linked with the Tottenham job.
Spurs only made matters worse, at least in that regard, on Sunday night when they announced the mutual parting of ways with Antonio Conte, leaving Cristian Stellini in charge until the end of the season.
At least, that’s the line Tottenham are pushing for the time being, perhaps giving themselves time to recover, think and also manage expectations from fans, who will want someone to take over sooner rather than later.
Nagelsmann appears to be a favourite after his good work at RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich, but there are some who believe he should avoid a move to London.
One of those is Frankfurter Rundschau’s Thomas Kilchenstein, who wrote an article on Monday titled ‘Why Nagelsmann shouldn’t go to Tottenham’.
He makes it clear he doesn’t know if Tottenham and the 35-year-old manager have already had any contact about the job, but he does state that it would be ‘somewhat surprising’ if Nagelsmann went straight back into a job.
The young manager’s ‘head is still in Munich’, and the question is asked: ‘Does it even make sense to change horses so quickly?’.
Nagelsmann is told to ‘let what he experienced’ at Bayern ‘sink in’, ‘let time pass’ and ‘ask himself why things didn’t work out’ in Bavaria.
Furthermore, he ‘doesn’t have to act hectically on the market and throw himself into the next adventure’, as despite being sacked, he ‘stays on the top shelf’ of managers and will get to ‘choose’ whatever he does next, because he ‘didn’t do such a bad job’, with results not the primary reason behind his eviction.
