Since Diogo Dalot joined AC Milan on loan from Manchester United last year, the Italian media has been full of rumours on whether the player should stay with the Rossoneri on a permanent deal or not.

This possibility now seems to have come to an end, at least according to what outlet Calcio Mercato has to say.

The website brings a headline which says ‘Farewell Dalot’, claiming Milan won’t be making any efforts to keep the 22-year-old.

The story highlights the great season Theo Hernandez has been having for the club, and claims that the Portuguese player couldn’t even fight for a place with him.

So Calcio Mercato says Dalot should now be on his way back to Manchester United, with Milan already going for other targets to replace him. The fullback has a contract with the Red Devils running until 2023.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has an impressive 43 appearances made this year, and it’s unlikely Dalot could compete for his place. However, in the few games the Englishman couldn’t feature in, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had to improvise with the likes of Brandon Williams, Victor Lindelof and Axel Tuanzebe on the right-back.

So in case Dalot wants to stay at Old Trafford, he could perhaps be a back-up option for the position.
