Yesterday, we covered a report from Gazzetta dello Sport which stated Napoli’s move for Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour can close this week. There’s now continued confidence about this transfer happening.
Napoli seemed close to selling Gianluca Gaetano to Cagliari and that was going to be key in unlocking the Gilmour deal.
Gazzetta dello Sport have now reported that Gaetano seems to be heading towards Parma instead of Cagliari, with the newly promoted Serie A side offering €8m and bonuses as part of their move.
As a result, they believe Gilmour’s move is a matter of time and the pink journal seem very confident.
Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler mentioned in a recent interview that he is expecting Gilmour to return to training this week, but Gazzetta dello Sport tell Napoli fans ‘don’t be fooled’ as it’s insisted the Seagulls are well aware a transfer is happening.
The outlet states that the deal for the midfielder should close at around €13m, with Brighton waiting for Napoli to make their offer.
Still, as we’ve mentioned repeatedly, that feels on the low side.
