There’s perhaps no club in the world which loves polling its fans more than Barcelona.
Meetings, events, telephone polls (really), the Catalan club want to know what their fanbase is thinking, so those in charge at the Camp Nou can make sure their anxiety levels don’t drop towards a healthy level.
This week saw the latest findings from the Observatori Blaugrana released, report Mundo Deportivo. Twice a year, Barcelona take on a polling company to telephone 1000 members and ask them a variety of things.
One of the questions this time was, aside from Barcelona (of course), which is the best football club on the planet? Manchester City won, knocking away previous winners Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Perhaps the surprising aspects are that Pep Guardiola’s current team don’t win it every year, given the love many Barca fans still have for their former manager, and that Real Madrid are even considered given the relationship between the two clubs.
Manchester City have been keen to get favour from the Catalan press since they started their Spanish revolution, giving extra access to newspapers from the region.
That, success, and Pep has helped bring this level of respect.
