Leeds United agreed to loan Jack Harrison to Fiorentina earlier in the January window. The 29-year-old has swapped one relegation battle with the Whites for another with La Viola.
The Serie A battle is looking tougher right now, and there’s hope Harrison can help out. Leeds United are currently 16th out of 20 in the Premier League, and a semi-comfortable six points clear of the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Fiorentina find themselves 18th out of 20 and in the dreaded zone. There’s plenty to play for, with Lecce only being a point ahead.
Harrison got half an hour against Cagliari at the weekend, but wasn’t able to stop the Tuscany club losing 2-1. It was a little taste that he’s enjoyed and there’s confidence and hope ahead of what’s to come.
Right now, Fiorentina are playing Como in the Coppa Italia, and Harrison started the match.
Prior to kick-off, the Leeds United owned player spoke to the Italian media and was asked how he’s getting on.
“It’s fantastic to be here,” Harrison said, as quoted by TMW. “The guys have really welcomed me. I’m very happy and hope to contribute to the team between now and the end of the season.”
The winger said he’s enjoying the city, which is no great surprise given it’s one of Italy’s most beautiful. He was asked to comment on the differences he’s noticed since the move.
“I’ve only been here so long, it’s hard to tell the difference between here and Italy. The fans are fantastic, let’s hope we can give them something to cheer about.”
Fiorentina face a tough Serie A match at the weekend, coming up against champions Napoli.
Jack Harrison had earlier spoken to the Italian media about Marcelo Bielsa’s influence on his career.
