Arnaut Danjuma’s failed loan deal at Everton last season has led to him being on ‘last chance’ basis at Villarreal this year.
That’s according to El Periódico Mediterráneo, who report that the Dutchman wants to try and prove himself to the Spanish club and manager Marcelino.
The newspaper explains that Danjuma is undergoing pre-season with the Spanish side this summer after returning from his loan spell at Everton last season.
He barely featured for the Toffees last year after arriving in the summer following the drama in the January transfer window that saw him turn them down at the last minute and move to Tottenham instead.
A failure to impress Sean Dyche meant he enjoyed limited minutes last year, though, even despite Everton’s goalscoring problems throughout the campaign.
Thus, they decided not to sign him and he’s now back at Villarreal, who had been planning to sell him as he’s not really a part of Marcelino’s plans.
No move has presented itself as yet, though, and he’s been spending the last few weeks training with the Spanish side and ‘trying to convince’ the Villarreal coach to give him his ‘last chance’.
He wants to bounce back after the disappointing of his failed loan move at Everton, which had been planned so he could ‘revalue’ himself but instead went the opposite way and left him as ‘more like a problem than a solution’.
