On Sunday, we covered claims from Italy which explained Torino were losing hope over signing Beto from Everton this month.
It was explained the Serie A club had been planning the striker’s arrival for three months, but the confidence was starting to drain from their ambitions.
They’d hoped Beto would be able to force Everton to lower their €20m demands, with Torino unwilling to go above €14m. Sean Dyche hadn’t given Beto much prominence so when David Moyes looked like he’d take a similar path, confidence grew in Turin.
Moyes then giving Beto 77 minutes against Brighton & Hove Albion somewhat dented that.
However, Monday’s edition of Tuttosport, a Turin newspaper, reports negotiations resumed on Sunday night. They state David Moyes has informed Everton that after Dominic Calvert picked up an injury he wants a striker bringing in and that Beto isn’t part of his plans but rather an option he feels forced to use.
Beto is said to have again ‘forcefully’ relayed his transfer desire to both Moyes and Everton directors. It’s said there’s been ‘heated face-to-face discussions’ and the Toffees have since upped their attempts to sign a striker.
Tuttosport insist therefore that ‘Beto is for sale’ and it’s ‘just a question of money’.
Torino are said to have raised their offer to €15m, a whole €1m more. It’s also reported there’s a belief a loan with an €18m purchase option could do the trick.
Again, it’s worth noting Tuttosport is a Turin newspaper and therefore given that side of the story.
