It’s no secret that Tottenham are big fans of Weston McKennie, having been after the Juventus midfielder for a while.

Antonio Conte seems to want an extra midfielder in his squad, and the USA international fits the profile of player he wants, which is why we are seeing him named once again as a target for Spurs.

On Thursday, we covered Italian journalist Enrico De Lellis claiming that Fabio Paratici has been following the player at his former club, and with that in mind, a move in January cannot be ruled out.

The idea of a McKennie exit in the next transfer window was then pushed further forward by Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday morning, writing in their newspaper that if he fails to impress in the coming months, the Serie A side ‘could decide to sacrifice him in January’.

That would help them bring money in the coffers, with them needing around €22m to buy Leandro Paredes, who arrived on loan with an option to buy ‘that becomes an obligation upon the achievement of certain conditions’.

Therefore, selling McKennie to the likes of Tottenham could be in the Italians’ best interest, which Calciomercato also touch upon on Friday afternoon.

In a video with Marco Demicheli, the outlet recall that there had been ‘an interest from Tottenham last summer’ that mostly came from Paratici, who was the man to sign the midfielder for Juventus in the first place.

They add his situation ‘can change in January’, and that an exit ‘isn’t excluded’ as they look to bolster their own squad with a new left-back and perhaps another defender.

There is still ‘interest from the Premier League’, with Tottenham named ‘above all’ as the ones likely to be keen as Paratici ‘once again’ looks to his former club for transfer inspiration.
