For the past few days, there’s been multiple stories from Brazil explaining how well Leeds United star Raphinha has done in his first two caps for the national team, having now won a starting place in the team.

The Whites’ winger wasn’t very known in his home country, since he started his career abroad. So as Liverpool midfielder Fabinho gave a press conference on Wednesday, he was asked about Raphinha’s immediate success in the Premier League.

The Reds player ended up commenting on the summer rumours which linked the Leeds player to Liverpool. Full of praise for the Raphinha, Fabinho claimed his national teammate is the ‘best player’ they have at Elland Road.

“Raphinha, since arriving in the Premier League, has had a very good performance and stand outs in Leeds. In this market, there was a discussion about him going to Liverpool, but in the end he stayed at Leeds. He’s the best player in the team, we know he’s the one who can cause the most danger,” said Fabinho (via Globo Esporte).

“He started very well in both games for the national team, participated in the three goals against Venezuela, did very well against Colombia. He is a left-footed player who goes up, comes in, as well as on the outside, this is very important for our team. He’s a guy with a lot of personality and he’s already shown that he can help us a lot.”

With eight wins in nine games, Brazil now play Uruguay on Thursday night, with Fabinho and Raphinha both set to start. The duo then rush back to England, as Liverpool take a trip to Watford and Leeds go to Southampton in the Premier League fixture at the weekend.

Given how late the pair will return, it’s going to be difficult for them to feature for their clubs.
