Last summer, Tottenham Hotspur made an interesting move by signing Alejo Véliz from Rosario Central in a €15m deal.
With them signing a teenager at the time, he didn’t have an immediate place and ended up loaned to Sevilla.
Tottenham fans should still be faithful about Véliz’s future, though. As Milan News shares an interview with agent Filippo Colasanto, he has some big praise for the player.
The outlet’s story is actually about AC Milan’s chase for Boca Juniors youngster Aaron Anselmino. Now since Colasanto is an Argentine football expert, they asked him for some tips about who should be signed in the South American country.
“I would have taken Alejo Véliz with my eyes closed, who then ended up at Tottenham, just as two years ago I would have taken Julian Alvarez without much thought.
“I must say that the other Boca Juniors centre-back is interesting: his name is Nicolas Valentini and he is a regular in the A national team group. A left-handed and elegant centre forward. He has been broken in for 2-3 seasons and is much more ready.”
Véliz has only made eight appearances for Tottenham, having scored one goal.
It’s well known that things haven’t been great at Sevilla, where he’s only made three appearances and is struggling to get playing time. Still, the quotes show there’s some big confidence about his potential in Argentina, and since he’s just 20, we might see that in the coming years.
