Left out of the first-team at Leeds United following the arrival of Sam Allardyce, there is a good chance Illan Meslier is reinstated by the next manager next season.
Should he not be, the 23-year-old could end up looking for a starting role somewhere other than Elland Road, which many in Yorkshire would be sad about.
The Leeds goalkeeper is currently with France’s U21 squad for the U21 Euros being hosted in Romania and Georgia, and was interviewed by the French Football Federation website on Thursday.
While a lot of it was about his career to date, mostly in France, there were a few questions that related to his current club.
One in particular stood out, as the FFF asked the Leeds man what his most beautiful moment to date as a footballer was.
He replied: “The promotion to the Premier League, it was an extraordinary moment. There’s also the game this year at Anfield against Liverpool where we win in the last few minutes and I have a very good game.
“When you end those type of games, you think back over your career and everything you’ve gone through, what led you to this precise moment. Winning in that mythical stadium and against such players, it’s exhilarating.”
Signed from Lorient back in 2020 for €6.5m, Meslier has made 126 appearances for Leeds to date, conceded 212 goals and kept 30 clean sheets.
