Earlier on Monday, it was claimed that Bart Verbruggen was edging ever closer to a big transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion.
The goalkeeper’s move was reportedly almost complete, with hope it could be sealed this week, and Sacha Tavolieri in Belgium has provided a new update this afternoon.
Taking to Twitter, the journalist revealed Verbruggen has ‘agreed a five-year contract’ with Brighton in what will be long-term deal for the 20-year-old.
As for the price, it’s made clear that the Seagulls reached a settlement with Anderlecht for an amount ‘slightly higher’ than the previously claimed €20m.
Regarding when the deal will be made official, this is expected to take place ‘after his national duties’, with the Dutchman now set to return to Belgium following the 3-2 loss against Italy suffered on Sunday night.
Verbruggen has been in fine form for Anderlecht this season, conceding 45 goals in 37 games in all competitions, picking up 13 clean sheets along the way.
In turn, Brighton secure the long-term replacement for Robert Sánchez, who fell out of favour under Roberto De Zerbi, who finished the season with Jason Steele between the sticks.
