Sergio Reguilon was given a great chance in the summer when Atletico Madrid turned up to sign him on a loan basis.
With Antonio Conte not seeing a place for the defender in his Tottenham side, the 26-year-old got the opportunity to go to another big club and show what he could do.
There was a rough idea that it could help Reguilon win himself a place in the Spain squad for the Qatar World Cup, and then allow Tottenham to sell him for a reasonable fee in the coming summer window.
Unfortunately, that didn’t turn out to be the case, and Reguilon has had a torrid season. He’s only managed to put together 84 minutes of La Liga football for Atletico Madrid, and Sunday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo makes it clear Diego Simeone is frustrated with the player.
It’s stated that when the manager wanted to call upon Reguilon, he was ‘in the infirmary’, and repeat injury issues have overshadowed his return to Spain.
Therefore, the player is ‘expected to pack his bags’ in the summer and return to Tottenham, what happens with his future at Spurs is less clear.
