Despite claims otherwise, there’s nothing between Rangers and Gil Vicente winger Paulinho for now, one of his agents has told Sport Witness.

Last week, Portuguese newspaper O Jogo said Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha is keen on taking the 24-year-old to Ibrox.

But as pointed out by us at the time, the claim was made a day after English website HITC suggested Rangers should consider signing Paulinho, given Caixinha’s Portugal connections.

And today, it’s A Bola who are making the same claims about a move to the Scottish Premiership side. That’s why to clear up the situation, Sport Witness have contacted Pedro Mendes, one of the founders of MNM Sports, the company which takes care of Paulinho’s career.

“I’m not going to feed speculation of course… but at the moment it was not even talked about! It’s just speculation,” said Mendes, who coincidentally played for Rangers between 2008 and 2010.

“There’s nothing that links Paulinho to Rangers at the moment.”

Paulinho is running out of contract at the end of the season, and according to the local media he’s set to leave for a bigger club.

But if Pedro Caixinha really wants him at Ibrox, he better get in touch first.
