On Tuesday morning, L’Equipe carried an article saying Kurt Zouma could be on his way out of Chelsea. The reasoning was, according to the French newspaper, that Zouma wasn’t in the plans of manager Antonio Conte, and so could be going on loan.

L’Equipe’s story would appear to be a little off on this one, because a source close to the player has informed Sport Witness that the claims are untrue.

Zouma leaving Chelsea always seemed like an unlikely scenario, given how highly rated the young defender is. It’s easy to forget that Zouma is still only 21 of age, and given the level he’s already showed he can achieve, Chelsea would be mad to let the player go.

After an unfortunate knee injury, Zouma is aiming for a return to the Chelsea squad, and will then expect to force his way into Antonio Conte’s team. Chelsea have been keen to add another defender this summer, but it’s not thought that will be a block on Zouma’s future at the club.
