Targeted by Fulham and Wolverhampton as well as Bristol City, it is finally the The Robins who have won the race to sign Angers striker Famara Diedhiou.

Sport Witness understands both clubs and the striker came to a full agreement for the transfer on Sunday, with the deal expected to be made official once the player has passed his medical and signed his four-year deal sometime this week.

Diedhiou scored eight goals and picked up two assists in 31 league appearances last season.

Following Tammy Abraham’s return to Chelsea from his loan spell at Ashton Gate last year, Bristol City were keen to strengthen their attack in order to improve on last year’s 17th spot in the Championship.

The Senegal international, who has been capped four times for his country, arrived at Angers just last summer, and impressed enough to earn himself a move to England less than 12 months later.

Bristol City will be Diedhiou’s seventh club after spells with ASM Belfort, SAS Epinal, Gazelec Ajaccio, Sochaux, Clermont Foot and finally Angers last season in Ligue 1, with whom he reached the Coupe de France final, only to lose against Paris Saint-Germain.
