Marcus Rashford’s ‘excellent performances’ are encouraging Barcelona to buy him permanently from Manchester United.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo. The Spanish newspaper reports that Barcelona are considering triggering the €30m clause they negotiated with Manchester United in the summer.” their best in recent years.

He joined Barcelona in the summer, and the deal includes an option to make it permanent. He’s been impressing since and Sport Witness have covered various reports stating that Barcelona want to buy him permanently.

Those reports started in December but have picked up particularly over the last month. One report made it clear what the plan was, before Rashford was then given front page status earlier this month.

‘Great market opportunity’

Now Mundo Deportivo add their voice to the growing noise. The newspaper reports that Rashford possesses ‘practically all the qualities that a club like Barça demands’.

The Catalans see the €30m purchase option as a ‘great market opportunity’ considering his current performance. They even feel his agents were ‘skilful’ in getting Manchester United to agree to it in the summer.

Rashford is current fourth in La Liga for assists, second on the team behind Lamine Yamal. He also has four goals, putting him in the top five goalscorers at the club too. Nobody in the squad has more shots on target.

In the Champions League, he’s joint top goalscorer and assist provider. And he’s back in the England picture under Thomas Tuchel.

‘Clearly advantageous operation’

He is valued at €40m but could easily climb to €50–60m by the end of the season, especially if he features at the World Cup, making €30m look a complete bargain.

Using it would be a ‘clearly advantageous operation’. He could end up being a ‘real bargain’ and Barcelona want to take advantage.

Rashford would certainly welcome the deal being done early. He’s currently living every game like it’s an exam. He would gain peace of mind and self-confidence, which could translate into even better performance.

Barcelona are considering paying the clause. They see it as a bargain, with a similar player likely to cost at least €60–70m, and regard the summer deal with Manchester United as one of their best in recent years.
