Celta Vigo sporting director Marco Garcés has spoke again about bringing Fer López back from Wolves.

Four days ago, Celta Vigo announced the director has renewed his contract until 2030.

On Monday, he held a press conference, where he was specifically asked about the Wolves player. AS have relayed his comments. The La Liga side sold López to Wolves for around €25m in June, largely in an effort to balance their books.

His move to Molineux hasn’t worked out so far. The attacking midfielder has failed to score and has one assist from 281 minutes. He’s played two league matches since mid-October.

The Spain U21 international is said to be unhappy at the Premier League side. This has seen him linked with a loan return to Celta Vigo in January.

On November 27th, Celta Vigo manager Claudio Giráldez sat on the fence when asked about bringing him back. Five days later, president Marián Mouriño said López is always welcome to return to the club.

Garcés appeared excited when discussing the possibility of bringing the Wolves man back to Celta Vigo. At the same time, the director is realistic the operation for the 21-year-old won’t be easy.

“We would love for him to return. He’s exactly the type of player we need. We’ve expressed our interest, but it seems difficult. They invested a significant amount of money, and it was very recently,” he said.

“We have all 25 squad spots filled. If we can offload a couple of players, someone with Fer López’s profile, whether it’s him or another player, would be very interesting.”
