It seems that Portuguese side Sporting are already making plans for the money they will get from the sale of Matheus Pereira to West Bromwich Albion.
Local newspaper O Jogo today has a story about the Lions’ finances for next season, and all the positions they hope to have signings for.
Then when speaking of sales, they say ‘everything indicates’ the Baggies will use their buying option over Pereira in January, anticipating the option, since they have until the summer to trigger it.
The amount paid by West Brom would be around €10m, and O Jogo writes that it would be ‘an important aid for the board to ensure immediate profit and to attack the market with strength’.
Pereira has three goals and eight assists in 13 appearances for West Brom so far. His impressive statistics have motivated Slaven Bilic to go public about his signing, saying he’s a ‘bargain’ for the club.
Now we wait to see if the Baggies will really use the buying option in January. Meanwhile, Sporting are certainly looking forward to that happening.
