Manchester City are leading the race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland in the summer, if reports coming out of Spain are to be believed.

According to COPE, the Citizens ‘believe’ the striker has ‘already decided his future’ and it is to join the English champions.

It’s claimed that Manchester City and Real Madrid are the only two teams that stand a chance to acquire the 21-year-old’s services. He has known for weeks the offer from Pep Guardiola’s side is the best among the proposals he has received so far.

The Norway international seems to favour the Premier League, specifically a move to the Etihad. The ‘confirmation of contracts and details’ has been slowed down due to poor health condition of agent Mino Raiola.

COPE further states that ‘everything indicates that Pep Guardiola will have his desired striker in July’.

Manchester City have further received encouragement in the frontman chase as Real Madrid ‘cool down’ their efforts to sign him.

That’s according to AS, who state Haaland’s arrival in Madrid would only be possible if Raiola [and the player’s father, Alf-Inge Håland], ‘lowered their claims far beyond what Manchester City has offered them’.

The newspaper further explains this ‘does not seem easy’.

These factors would favour Guardiola and Manchester City having Haaland at the Etihad next season.
