Leeds United hold the key to Mateo Joseph’s future as Mallorca prepare to ask for another year of his loan, according to Futbol des de Mallorca.
The outlet reports that the LaLiga side see value in extending his stay, as the forward has adapted well and given the squad another option up front. They now hope to negotiate a second season of loan, but the process hinges entirely on Leeds United
The report explains that Mallorca have already accepted that paying the option for centre-back Marash Kumbulla is unrealistic. That leaves Joseph as the only loanee they are keen to retain.
His performances have encouraged the coaching staff, who believe continuity would help both player and club. Even so, they cannot move forward without clarity from Elland Road.
‘Everything depends on Leeds’
Futbol des de Mallorca underline that Leeds hold all the leverage. Mallorca can express their intention and prepare the ground, but any agreement depends on the Championship side’s internal plans for the 21-year-old.Â
A decision from England will define whether Mallorca can keep him for 2025–26 or if they must look elsewhere for attacking depth.
The situation should evolve once Leeds outline their squad strategy, and Mallorca remain ready to act if they receive a green light.
