On June 18th, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported Atlético Madrid have rejected Chelsea’s €40m bid for Samu Omorodion.
Marca also claim the La Liga side have turned down Chelsea’s offer and then provide more updates on this case.
Atlético paid €6m to buy the striker from Granada in August 2023. They sent him out on loan to Deportivo Alavés last season, where he managed eight goals and an assist from 35 games.
His profile and potential has convinced Los Rojiblancos to reject offers. The Madrid club’s official stance is to count on the 20-year-old next season, but Marca say ‘everything can change’ if the Blues were to ‘insist’ and return with an improved bid.
In short, if Chelsea were to make an ‘off-market offer’, Diego Simeone’s side will be able to accept it. The newspaper talks about an offer of 10 times the money they invested, meaning around €60m.
Omorodion is waiting to sort out his future. His desire is to play under Simeone’s orders, but the player is aware he can improve his salary in the Premier League, indicating that he would be open to joining Chelsea.
