Nottingham Forest have not been put off by their first bid for Feyenoord star Givairo Read being rejected but need to seriously up their offer to get a deal done.

Nottingham Forest’s first bid
The website explains that Givairo Read is one of the Feyenoord players who looks destined for a move this summer. Nottingham Forest have already made an approach, but the offer was considered too low. The Dutch side are also hopeful that ‘bigger clubs’ will come knocking.
Voetbal International report that their technical director Dévy Rigaux would prefer to keep Read for another year. The player has not ruled out that option, but he would prefer to join a top foreign club this summer.
Nottingham Forest have offered an initial €17.5m, which was immediately rejected. According to VI, though, that won’t put off Oliver Glasner’s side.
“The English aren’t put off by this, because they know that in the Netherlands, everyone is for sale,” they are quoted as saying.
“Forest are expected to get back in touch soon with a new bid, but the club has no desire to engage in lengthy negotiations either. It is expected that Feyenoord will enter negotiations if an offer of around €25m is made, although the initial firm ‘no’ suggests the talks will not be straightforward.”
€25-30m more realistic
Over on the RTV Rijnmond podcast, meanwhile, they also discussed what a realistic transfer fee for Givairo Read may be this summer.
“Nottingham Forest’s offer cannot be taken seriously,” Dennis van Eersel stated.
“It’s like me going to a Porsche dealership and saying: ‘I’m seriously interested in this car; I’ll offer €8k.’
He sees a realistic figure being closer to €30m. “€30m or more. €25m? Then at least you can start talks to see if we can reach the figure I’m looking for. But at €17m, you’re still so far off the mark,” he added.
Van Eersel recently interviewed the youngster, and he questions whether Nottingham Forest are quite in the tier of club that he’s looking for.
“We’re also still at a stage in the transfer window where you don’t have to say ‘yes’ straight away,” he concluded.
“He said he doesn’t necessarily have to leave. But he did admit that if really big clubs come calling, that’s something you dream of as a young lad. I’m not sure whether Nottingham Forest is necessarily in that league. It’s a club that could easily be relegated. So, in practical terms, you might also wonder whether this is the right club for him.”
