Nikola Vlašić hit the ground running since West Ham United allowed him to join Torino on a loan deal in the summer transfer window.
The attacking midfielder scored three goals in his first five matches and that led to reports in Italy stating the Serie A side are planning to make his stay permanent.
These claims didn’t disappear when the West Ham owned player went without scoring or assisting for over two months this season. The Turin club can buy the 25-year-old by paying €15m to the Hammers.
On Tuesday, Corriere Torino reported that Ivan Jurić’s side are working with West Ham to get the asking price down to secure the Croatia international’s services.
The former Everton man is also part of the Croatia squad that made it to the quarter-final of the 2022 World Cup, during which Gazzetta dello Sport interviewed Vlašić, where he detailed about the messages he has received from the Torino supporters to extend his stay at the club.
“I feel like sharing this joy [making it to World Cup quarter-final] with Torino fans. They are fantastic. From the first day I arrived in the city, they took me by the hand,” he said.
“When I meet them on the street, they always repeat to me ‘Grande Toro’, ‘Grande Toro’. Everyone asks me to stay for a long time. I’m very happy at Torino, let’s see what happens in the summer, but right now I just want to enjoy the joy and fun of wearing that shirt and thinking about winning games to make them happy.”
