Last summer, Everton allowed Jarrad Branthwaite to join PSV Eindhoven on loan and his performances this season have convinced them to make his stay permanent.
Earlier this year, the defender had opened the door to continuing at the Eredivisie side beyond this season. PSV manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has also already requested his employer buy the 20-year-old in the next window.
Voetbal Nieuws now discuss the Dutch club’s plans for the Everton owned player and Zulte Waregem’s Lukas Willen.
They relay a claim made by Het Nieuwsblad that Van Nistelrooy’s side have already asked about the Belgian. Zulte Waregem want to retain him, but they will have to negotiate for the transfer since Willen’s deal expires in 2024.
PSV are looking for defensive reinforcements in the next window. Voetbal Nieuws explain they are ‘working on a definitive transfer’ of the Toffees centre-back, but it won’t be an easy operation due to the Merseyside club’s demands.
It’s claimed Everton are ‘asking for a high transfer fee’, but the report doesn’t specify the figure demanded by Sean Dyche’s side. Willen, on the other hand, is seen as a cheaper alternative to Branthwaite.
The Toffees’ high demand may complicate PSV’s plans to buy Branthwaite and the latter could shift their focus to Willen.
