The Idrissa Gueye to Paris Saint-Germain story is becoming so convoluted, we’re not sure anyone really knows what’s going on, as every single day, a new report comes out, and every single time, it’s different.

Take Monday for example, when we wrote an article explaining how Everton’s demands for the Senegalese midfielder seemingly changed by the hour depending on who was reporting it.

L’Equipe had the price going from €45m to €30m, while Le Parisien were told it was €40m, followed by Foot Mercato who went all out and claimed Everton had told Gueye’s representatives that he simply wasn’t for sale at any price.

Fast forward 24-48 hours later, and Le Parisien have another amount, as the newspaper explains they’ve been told by an Everton source that the price is now €50m.

This is seen as ‘very demanding’ by all concerned in Paris, which is why Julian Weigl, who now ‘dreams’ of teaming up once again with Thomas Tuchel in France’s capital, is becoming more and more of an option for the Ligue 1 champions.

Paris Saint-Germain are said to ‘still be working on’ the Idrissa Gueye deal, but it seems the former Aston Villa man is slipping away from their grasp by the day.

You can’t blame Everton for wanting to keep one of their key players at all cost, but it seems the French press are doing just that.

The vibe we’re getting from most of these articles is very much “how dare this pesky Liverpool-based club not sell their starting defensive midfielder to a Champions League team known to have lots of money at a bargain price midway through the season?”
