Axel Witsel Tuttosport July 26thAxel Witsel is rejecting Everton to wait for Juventus. At least that’s what Turin based newspaper Tuttosport reported on Tuesday.

According to their article, Zenit had agreed to sell the midfielder to Everton for €30m. However, a move to Liverpool is not what the Belgian wants right now, and he turned down their offer politely.

The player’s wish is to sign for Juventus, who so far have only offered €20m plus bonuses. He’s considered to be a perfect replacement for Paul Pogba, who could be leaving for Manchester United this summer.

The reason Witsel would pick Juventus instead of Everton is because of Champions League football and the Old Lady’s ambition to make a great team. That’s also their advantage over West Ham, who are said to have shown interest recently.

If Juve don’t match Zenit’s demands, then Everton will really have a chance. But for now, this situation is expected to be dragged for a while.

Witsel’s contract expires next summer, so there’s also the option of staying for one more season and then leaving for free.

Everton would be a good suit for Witsel, he’d be fortunate, replacing Pogba is not really the Belgian’s level. Witsel is linked with moves every summer and they obviously haven’t come off yet, he’d be hugely lucky to get a Juve chance, so maybe Everton’s €30m will come back around to prominence.

The question is whether Everton are still bothered.
