Everton are in a ‘straight race’ with Parma to sign Bayern Munich forward Joshua Zirkzee this month.
That’s according to Sky Sports Germany, via journalist Max Bielefeld, who says that both clubs have made a formal bid for the striker.
Zirkzee has been out of favour at the Allianz Arena this season, having barely featured despite impressing for the club last season.
He has subsequently been linked with a move away from the club and Everton, where the youngster trained as a youngster before heading to Bayern, have been named as suitors.
It’s believed they are keen on a loan deal for the Dutchman and reports over the last week indicated they were exploring that, but Bayern’s €10m redemption price was a problem.
They now appear to have sorted that with sources telling Sky that they have now made a formal bid for the player.
Update Zirkzee: It's a straight race between Everton and Parma, according to Sky sources. Both made a formal bid of over 10m€ for the player (loan + option/obligation). Player would be happy with both options. Now @FCBayern has to take a decision #TransferUpdate pic.twitter.com/7rhDYuK1jF

That’s said to be ‘over €10m’, with the deal structured as a loan until the end of the season and then an ‘option/obligation’ to buy at the end of it.
Zirkzee, for his part, is ‘happy’ to move to either club and so the decision rests with Bayern whether he will end up at Everton or Parma.
