While David Henen might not like Sport Witness, we like David Henen, mostly because he keeps getting linked with a move away from Everton.
Flirting with a transfer to Standard over the summer, the forward openly admitted he wanted to leave Goodison Park to get some first-team football, and you can’t blame him, considering he’s now 21 and has yet to feature for the Toffees.
Out of contract in the summer, Henen looks on the verge of getting what he wants, and his dream, according to DH in Belgium, was to return to Standard Liège, the club who developed him.
However, that isn’t going to happen, with the outlet explaining disagreements regarding the player have taken place at the Jupiler Pro League side, while agents have tried to wiggle their way into the deal when they shouldn’t have.
That doesn’t mean a move away from Everton isn’t going to happen, as DH state Antwerp are still very interested in him, with a handful of English and French teams also keen on his services.
Having rejected the opportunity to sign a new deal at Goodison Park, everything points towards this being the end of Henen’s time on Merseyside.
We’ll just have to wait and see if it’ll happen in January or June.
