Everton’s interest in Atlético Madrid’s Santiago Arias has been discussed in Spain and Colombia since August.

A week ago, Colombian radio station Caracol reported the Toffees are expected to make a bid for the right-back.

It was also stated Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United are set to provide competition for Arias’ signature. According to Bolavip, everything indicates the 28-year-old will be playing in the Premier League this season.

Everton, Wolves and Newcastle get a mention as the Premier League trio are ‘fighting’ to sign the defender.

It’s claimed the three English clubs would be willing to sit down to negotiate with the leaders of the La Liga side.

According to the report, Diego Simeone’s side ‘will surely accept’ a proposal, if they receive an offer close to Arias’ €16m valuation.

The report doesn’t indicate if any of Everton, Wolves and Newcastle are planning to table a proposal for the fullback.

Friday’s edition of Sport also states Arias is expected to move to the Premier League, and relays claims made in Colombia.

Atlético already have the right-back position covered with Kieran Trippier and Šime Vrsaljko, and Arias’ exit will help his side raise money.
