It’s been a while since we’ve had Everton linked with a move for Steven N’Zonzi (back in April), but Le10 Sport in France felt now was the time to poke that rumour with a stick and ask it to do something.
According to the French website, there are three Premier League clubs currently after the France international, and they are the aforementioned Toffees, West Ham and Arsenal.
We’ll start with the Gunners, as they’ve been the most recently linked, and it’s easy to see why with Unai Emery now at the helm, since he previously managed the defensive midfielder at Sevilla.
However, the seemingly impending arrival of Lucas Torreira might put a damper on that one, as we can’t see the Gunners signing two players for the role, especially when N’Zonzi would cost €40m (his release clause).
As for Everton and West Ham, they appear, at least according to Le10, to be the favourites to acquire his services, with their interest described as ‘very hot’, even ‘increasing’.
Having already spent a large chunk of money this summer, and with more signings on the way, it’ll be interesting to see how far the Hammers are willing to go to please Manuel Pellegrini.
Over in Liverpool, Marco Silva’s transfer window hasn’t really kicked off yet, and if there’s one club out of the three not afraid to splash the cash, regardless of whether it seems like a good idea or not, it’s the Toffees.
For now, however, clubs will have to wait until after France’s World Cup run, which, worst case scenario, will be Saturday after the third-place playoff game.
