Everton currently have the ‘upper hand’ in the race for Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto, who has suitors in England and Italy.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say the next few days will be ‘decisive’ in establishing where the player ends up next season.
They explain that Gnonto is currently on his holidays following a busy campaign with Leeds and then the Under 21 European Championship with Italy this summer.
That tournament only helped to confirm his status as an up-and-coming youngster to keep an eye on and, after Leeds relegation from the Premier League, he is now thinking ‘concretely’ about his future.
He’s ‘thinking of changing destination’ and there is no shortage of interested parties, with Everton among them.
While Fiorentina, Monza and Sassuolo in Italy are ‘thinking about’ a move it is the Toffees who, at this moment in time, seem to have the upper hand in the race.
Why that is the case isn’t made clear but there is an increasing belief that Everton are leading the race for Gnonto.
He’s now enjoying a well-earned break but wants to continue to test himself in the Premier League again and the Toffees are keen to give him that opportunity.
