Everton are seen as a possible ‘escape route’ for free-agent Isco as his options for a new club continue to dwindle.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say the Spaniard’s ‘only hope’ is to find a Premier League club after options elsewhere disappeared.
They explain that agent Jorge Mendes is hard at work to find a new club for Isco, who finds himself in an ‘impossible situation’ following his departure from Sevilla last month.
The agent doesn’t want the player to ‘call it a day’ and wait until the summer for offers but he is finding ‘fewer and fewer’ doors to knock on in his attempt to find a suitor.
Isco has already rejected offer from Turkey and Saudi Arabia after his move to Union Berlin was cancelled at the last minute and now a move to MLS has been closed as the quota for franchise players is full until June.
Similarly, Turkish Konyaspor, the last team to show an interest in him, are already out of the picture as they have signed fellow Spaniard Alejandro Pozuelo.
That means Isco’s ‘only hope’ of finding a new club and ending the season with ‘dignity’ lies in the Premier League and it is believed Everton ‘could be his escape route’ on that front.
They failed to sign a single player during the January transfer window, the only side to do so, and there is an acceptance that Sean Dyche’s squad lacks a creative player like Isco.
That has led to suggestions they could make a move, with it reported two days ago that he remains in their sights as they can sign him despite the window being closed.
Now it appears they are Isco’s last remaining hope, although whether they actually move for the player, who would seemingly be an ill fit for the football Dyche likes to play, remains to be seen.
