Loaning Gerard Deulofeu from Everton might have been the best piece of business AC Milan have done in a while if the Spaniard’s recent performances are anything to go by.
His inspired assist against Bologna to set up Mario Pasalic for the winner against Bologna two weeks ago appears to have ben the beginning of a rise in confident for the Everton loanee, who was once again decisive on Sunday evening against Fiorentina.
Picking up the ball about 25 yards from Tatarusanu’s box, Deulofeu just started running at the defence before curling a wonderful shot into the bottom right hand corner of the goal.
These performances have, of course, caught the eye of the Italian media, with Gazzetta dello Sport writing on Monday the player is already ‘writing his future’, with a return to England and Goodison Park ‘unlikely’.
AC Milan do not have any clauses in the loan deal to make the deal permanent, but Gazzetta seem to think this new form could tempt Barcelona in using their €12m buyback clause in the summer.
Either that or the Serie A club, close to confirming their takeover by Chinese investors, could be tempted to make a good offer to Everton in the summer, with the Spaniard unlikely to be in Ronald Koeman’s plans for next season.
We’ll have to see if Deulofeu continues on his promising start, but as things stand, the loan move appears to have been exactly what the winger needed to rekindle his career.
