Everton will be obligated to buy Charly Alcaraz from Flamengo when a loan deal for him ends in the summer.
That’s according to Meiahora, who report that Alcaraz will leave Flamengo for Everton in the coming days.
Reports yesterday indicated that Everton had completed a loan move for the Flamengo midfielder, with the Brazilian club later confirming it via an official announcement on their social media channels.
That caused some confusion in England, and it’s been made clear that a deal is not yet done as Everton are yet to free up a loan spot in their squad. They are expected to do this by sending Orel Mangala back to Lyon after he was ruled out for the season with a knee injury.
According to Meiahora’s information, though, the deal for Alcaraz is done. He has not travelled with the Brazilian club for the game against Botafogo this weekend because of that.
Instead, he will head back to England on loan until the end of the season but the deal taking him to Everton includes an obligation to buy in the summer.
This obligation will only kick in if certain factors are met but the outlet states these are considered ‘easy to meet’. Negotiations for the midfielder took place on Thursday night and the desire for a quick agreement meant Everton agreed to easy to achieve clauses when it came to making the deal permanent.
Flamengo’s board have agreed to the deal as Alcaraz, who is the club’s most expensive signing after joining for $20m in the summer from Southampton, does not fit into their plans.
There is no mention of the fee Everton will have to pay but it is safe to assume it will be around that amount, with everyone in Brazil confident Alcaraz will meet the requirements and become a permanent signing in the summer.
