Everton may have been handed their chance to sign Werder Bremen striker Niclas Füllkrug in the summer after he decided to leave the German side.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who say the player and his advisors are ‘already sounding out the market’ for a possible move.
Füllkrug has been in superb form for Bremen this season, with 15 goals and six assists in 27 games in all competitions so far.
That’s earned the 30-year-old plenty of attention, something which only increased after he bagged three goals in two games during the international break for Germany.
A potential move to the Premier League has been mooted since the January transfer window, with Everton presented as one of his suitors.
They’re in dire need of a striker in the summer, with is stated during January that they have their eye on him.
A move never happened but the interest has remained, particularly with Füllkrug continuing to score goals, and a report at the end of March stated that Everton had tried ‘intensively’ to get him.
That same report claimed that it was increasingly likely Füllkrug would be leaving in the summer, and Sky Germany now back that up, stating the striker ‘wants to leave’ Bremen in the next window.
That gives his suitors, such as Everton, their chance to get him if they remain keen when the summer rolls around. A further boost for them is the fact that Torino is ‘not a serious option’ for the striker according to Sky’s information.
Whether the Toffees do move remains to be seen but it seems the opportunity is there to get the goal scorer that Sean Dyche really needs.
