Everton will be able to sign Werder Bremen striker Niclas Füllkrug this summer if they make an “economically good offer”.
That’s according to Werder Bremen chief Clemens Fritz, who has admitted to BILD that they will sell the striker if there are good enough offers at the end of the season.
Füllkrug has been in superb form for the German side this season, with 15 goals and six assists in 27 games in all competitions to his name so far.
That’s seen him linked with a move away in the summer transfer window, with several sides believed to be keen on him.
Indeed, he was the subject of speculation during the January transfer window, when it was made clear that Everton were one of the sides looking at his as they desperately scrambled to find a striker before the end of the window.
Since then, it has been claimed that Füllkrug is determined to leave Werder once this campaign is over and his agent is sounding out the market to try and make that happen.
That same report stated Werder Bremen needed to sell to help ease financial problems and Fritz has now admitted that they will accept a sale if the likes of Everton make an acceptable offer for their striker.
“Of course, there is a pain threshold,” he told BILD.
“And if that’s not achieved, we won’t think about selling him. But if an economically good offer comes along, then we have to deal with it.
“But we don’t have to accept everything that’s on the table. That’s for sure.”
What that pain threshold is remains to be seen, although BILD speculate it could be in the €20-25m range after Füllkrug’s performances this season.
That’s a big figure for someone who turned 30 last month and has only managed double figures in the Bundesliga twice since his first campaign in 2011/12, something we’re sure the Toffees will be considering given their own financial problems.
