As the rumours linking Porto striker Luis Diaz to Everton seemed already dead, it now looks like the Dragons’ president made sure to put an end to it.

According to Portuguese outlet Record, Pinto da Costa has now ‘vetoed any chance for a deal’.

That means Diaz is only leaving Porto in case his release clause is triggered, and that’d cost the interested clubs a fee of €80m.

So unless the Toffees go crazy in the final hours of the transfer window, it no longer looks like there’s any chance they could get the Colombian international.

A claim from Colombia today stated Porto have already turned down three offers from Everton for the striker.

Journalist Pipe Sierra says the Toffees now placed a bid of €30m plus James Rodriguez on the table, and that was rejected by Porto.

So if Record’s claims about Pinto da Costa not willing to negotiate are true, it’d make sense that he’ll continue closing the door to Everton’s attempts.
